I’m sure you have not heard of the Contini Bonacossi Collection but you should have; and now you will.

Tell me about this Collection

As we all scurry off to visit the magnificent works of art at the Uffizi and wonder how we will ever cope with the increasing crowds; you have already overlooked one the artistic gems of the city. In rooms adjacent to the Uffizi the Contini Bonacossi Bequest is on display, having become part of the Uffizi in 1998 and is largely ignored which is to your advantage?

What does the Collection Include?

The collection was chosen with meticulous care by Count and Countess Contini Bonacossi and comprises thirty-five splendid paintings that include works by Veronese, Tintoretto, Jacopo da Bassano, Cima da Conegliano and Bellini; not to mention Spanish works by Goya, Velazquez, Zurbaran and the great El Greco. There is also a large collection of terracotta and faience pieces from the Della Robbia workshop, a fresco by Andrea del Castagno, an altarpiece by Cimabue and a Virgin by Bramantino. In any other city this museum would take pride of place but here in Florence it waits quietly, to be discovered by you.
